Volunteer Positions at the Wildlife Training Institute (Pasiansi – Mwanza)​

The Principal of the Wildlife Training Institute, Pasiansi, invites applications from qualified Tanzanians for volunteer positions as outlined below.


1. STORE KEEPER – 1 Position​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess a Certificate or Diploma in Procurement and Supply Management from a government-recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Receive and store supplies entering the store.
  2. Issue supplies to relevant departments according to procedures.
  3. Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing supplies.
  4. Ensure supplies are stored safely and systematically.
  5. Conduct regular stock inspections.
  6. Report shortages, damage, or loss of supplies.
  7. Coordinate cleanliness and security of the store area.

2. ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT – 1 Position​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess a Degree or Diploma in Accounting from a government-recognized institution, or an ATEC II certificate issued by the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Prepare student fee payment control numbers.
  2. Prepare payment vouchers and receipts.
  3. Follow up on students’ outstanding tuition fees.
  4. Process various payments as directed by the Head of Unit.
  5. Assist in preparing and maintaining financial records.

3. DISCIPLINE OFFICERS (WARDENS) – 9 Positions​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess:

  • A Certificate in Wildlife Conservation and Law Enforcement, or
  • A Certificate in Tour Guiding and Security
from government-recognized institutions, and must be physically and mentally fit.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Enforce student discipline in accordance with institutional laws, rules, and procedures.
  2. Supervise and lead physical training sessions, including jogging and drills.
  3. Teach and conduct all types of parades/drills.
  4. Supervise manual work activities, hostel cleanliness, and the general environment of the institution.
  5. Perform any other duties assigned by the Principal.

4. LIBRARIAN – 2 Positions​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess a Certificate or Diploma in Library and Information Studies/Records Management from a government-recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Ensure cleanliness of the institution's library.
  2. Maintain books and other library materials.
  3. Organize books according to proper library classification systems.
  4. Issue books to users and monitor their return.
  5. Prepare and submit monthly reports to the Principal.

5. RECORDS OFFICER – 1 Position​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess a Diploma or Degree in Records and Archives Management from a government-recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Maintain cleanliness of the registry.
  2. Receive visitors and direct them appropriately.
  3. Manage and maintain active files.
  4. Circulate files and correspondence through the e-office system.
  5. Safeguard all registry office equipment and materials.

6. ASSISTANT INSTRUCTORS – 3 Positions​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Management, or
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Adult and Community Education, together with Geography and Biology studies,
from a government-recognized institution, with experience teaching wildlife-related subjects.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Teach short-term and long-term training courses under the guidance of the lead instructor.
  2. Prepare and administer examinations under supervision.
  3. Mark examinations.
  4. Prepare examination results and submit them to the respective course instructor.

7. ELECTRICAL TECHNICIAN – 1 Position​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess a Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a government-recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Report electrical faults and maintenance requirements.
  2. Operate and maintain generators during power outages.
  3. Supervise generator maintenance.
  4. Monitor fuel usage and generator equipment.
  5. Install and repair lighting in areas experiencing faults.
  6. Recommend measures to control electricity consumption.
  7. Inspect and report any damage to electrical systems.
  8. Work with the Institution’s Maintenance Officer to manage electrical systems, particularly in student hostels.

8. PLUMBER – 1 Position​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess a Vocational Trade Test Certificate (VETA Grade I, II, or III) from a government-recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Repair leaking water pipes within the institution.
  2. Carry out plumbing maintenance and repairs.
  3. Prepare cost estimates for plumbing repairs.
  4. Inspect and advise on water supply and wastewater systems.
  5. Ensure plumbing systems meet safety and quality standards.

9. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) OFFICER – 1 Position​

Qualifications​

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Computer Science,
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT),
  • Computer Engineering, or
  • Information Systems
from a government-recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities​

  1. Manage computer networks.
  2. Protect networks from hackers and viruses.
  3. Develop software systems.
  4. Maintain computers, servers, printers, and other electronic devices.
  5. Provide technical support to staff experiencing network or computer problems.
  6. Advise on technology procurement and maintenance.

General Requirements for All Applicants​

Applicants must:

  1. Be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 35 years.
  2. Be graduates holding a Certificate, Diploma, or Degree from a government-recognized institution.
  3. Possess valid academic certificates.
  4. Have two guarantors who are public servants.
  5. Obtain a recommendation letter from a Village Executive Officer, Sub-Village Chairperson, or Local Government authority.
  6. Be willing to serve as volunteers in the assigned area.
  7. Have no criminal or disciplinary convictions.
  8. Be of good conduct and reputable character.
  9. Have never been employed by any public institution since graduation.
  10. Meet all qualifications and requirements for the position applied for.

Additional Information​

  • Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews.
  • Allowances/remuneration will follow the guidelines issued by the President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance in 2025.
