Hand in Hand Eastern Africa-Tanzania (HIHEA TZ) is a registered NGO and part of the global Hand in Hand network. Since 2018, HIHEA TZ has been empowering communities, especially women, to overcome poverty through the creation of sustainable enterprises and jobs. The organization operates across six regions: Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Manyara, Dodoma, Singida & Meatu.


The Project Manager role plays a critical part in planning, implementing, and monitoring projects, ensuring resource optimization, stakeholder engagement, and measurable social impact.

Key Responsibilities​


1. Business Management
  • Contribute to corporate strategic planning and implement project-related strategies.
  • Facilitate operational planning, budget tracking, and performance monitoring for assigned projects.
  • Promote HIHEA TZ programs and services to communities and stakeholders.
2. Project Implementation
Lead the design and execution of assigned projects.
  • Conduct field visits, surveys, and community mobilization.
  • Coordinate with local leaders, stakeholders, and branch teams to achieve project goals.
  • Recommend innovations and develop products or services based on community needs.
  • Support staff training and development.
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
  • Support project monitoring and adoption of MEL findings.
  • Collect, analyze, and share lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
4. Reporting and Documentation
  • Prepare and submit periodic and ad-hoc narrative and financial reports to management and donors.
  • Maintain proper records and filing systems for all project activities.
5. Stakeholder Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, partners, government, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent HIHEA TZ in relevant forums and ensure visibility of the organization’s work.
6. Staff Management
  • Lead and mentor project staff, addressing performance, conflicts, and capacity-building needs.
  • Conduct appraisals and succession planning for supervised staff.
7. Other Duties
  • Perform any additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications and Skills​

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Business Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Specialized Training:
  • Training in monitoring and evaluation is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong project management, value chain, and field coordination skills.
  • Experience working with marginalized communities in peri-urban and rural areas.
  • Proven leadership and staff mentorship ability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Kiswahili.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High integrity, initiative, and commitment to results.
  • Analytical skills and report writing proficiency.
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar position, preferably managing community development or livelihood projects.
