Project Accountant at Ifakara Health Institute

Ifakara Health Institute is seeking a motivated Project Accountant who will be stationed at Dar es Salaam Office to perform day to day management of projects within the portfolio, reviewing project budgets, initiate or process payments approved by project leaders, keeping records of daily movement pf project transactions, reporting, and following up clearance of advance payments.
Responsibility:

Responsibilities
  • Prepare projects report as per the donor requirements.
  • Provide monthly project financial status reports to projects leaders (and whenever needed).
  • Prepare and submit monthly cash and budget balances to Head of Project Accounting Unit.
  • Prepare annual project cashflow report and submit the same to project leaders.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly projects reconciliation report to the Head of Project Accounting Unit for review.
  • Provision of information requested by donors with liaison with Head of Project Accounting Unit. (Financial Report, Projections, copies of Voucher etc.
  • Initiate payments and process payments.
  • Keep records of daily movements of project transactions (Project subsidiary ledger).
  • Verify imprest retirement.
  • Keep track and record all projects fixed assets – in the respective project fixed assets register.
  • Keep copies of donor contracts (soft and hard copies and all project reports.
  • Work with project leaders to review budgets before submitting the same to the budget team.
  • Control project expenditure v/s budgets.
  • Manage Dep/TGs transaction and reports.
  • Control of Dep/TGs budgets

Qualification Required:
  • Essential Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree or advanced Diploma in Accounts, professional certification in Accounts will be added an advantage.
Experience :
  • Experience in donor accounting procedures i.e., USAID, DFID, Global fund, EDCTP etc.
Preferred Language Skill :
  • Preferred Language
  • Fluent in both English and Swahili Language.
  • Must be able to communicate with Project Leaders and Donors.
