AUMS Geofields Tanzania Limited (AUMSGT) is inviting applications from qualified candidates to join its operations at the Geita Gold Mine located in Geita.AUMSGT is a joint venture with Geofields and part of Perenti Limited, a globally recognized mining services provider. Available Position: Offsider
Position Purpose
The Offsider supports underground mining operations by performing tasks that ensure smooth and efficient daily activities. The role involves assisting operators, handling equipment, and maintaining safe working conditions underground.Key Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) policies and procedures
- Use safety equipment correctly and report hazards immediately
- Take responsibility for personal safety and that of others
- Report all incidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions
Operational Duties
- Perform machine pre-start checks and ensure equipment is safe before use
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Minimize downtime and support productivity
- Prepare working areas for drilling, charging, and scraping
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in underground operations
Support and Logistics
- Deliver and collect equipment such as tools, explosives, and materials
- Transport waste materials from underground to designated dumping areas
- Assist Jumbo Operators with bolting and meshing
- Support service crews and help set up headings with bolts and mesh
- Work closely with underground supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations
Minimum Requirements
- Experience in underground hard rock mining is an added advantage
- Exposure to Sandvik drill equipment such as Jumbo, Solo, and Q-Box
- Strong understanding of underground mining operations
- Ability to use hand tools effectively
- Basic understanding of maintenance procedures
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Positive attitude toward physically demanding work
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Essential Requirements
- Completion of secondary school education
- Basic numeracy skills
- Ability to communicate in English (written and verbal)
