As an Obstetrician Gynaecologist, you will play a key role in improving reproductive health services and managing complex medical cases. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing prevention, diagnosis, and treatment related to gynecology and obstetrics
  • Managing complicated pregnancies, deliveries, and gynecological emergencies
  • Leading surgical obstetric care, including complex deliveries and emergency interventions
  • Participating in 24/7 on-call coverage for emergency obstetric care
  • Implementing MSF and Ministry of Health clinical protocols for labor management and surgical decisions
  • Promoting use of partograph monitoring and assisted vaginal delivery when appropriate
  • Conducting C-section audits to assess indications, outcomes, and avoidable procedures
  • Ensuring adherence to infection prevention practices and rational drug use
  • Collaborating with surgical and nursing teams to improve operating theatre standards
  • Leading maternal death reviews and identifying system gaps for improvement
In addition to clinical care, the role involves strong leadership and capacity-building responsibilities:

  • Supervising and supporting gynecological staff through recruitment, training, and performance evaluation
  • Providing mentorship and bedside teaching to medical officers, clinical officers, and midwives
  • Organizing training sessions on emergency obstetric care topics such as shoulder dystocia, breech delivery, and assisted delivery techniques
  • Supporting continuous professional development within the maternity team
You will also contribute to monitoring and reporting by:

  • Maintaining accurate maternity and surgical records
  • Monitoring key indicators such as maternal mortality, C-section rates, and infection rates
  • Ensuring proper documentation and use of clinical tools
  • Supporting data-driven quality improvement initiatives
This opportunity is best suited for highly qualified specialists in obstetrics and gynecology. To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Gynecology from a recognized university
  • At least 3 years of certified experience in Gynecology and Obstetrics
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Fluency in English and Swahili

The position offers a monthly salary of TZS 4,250,000 (non-negotiable), with a 2% seniority increase after 12 months and additional increments for continued service. Other benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
