Migration Health Officer Job at IOM Tanzania​

International Organization for Migration (IOM) is hiring a Migration Health Officer (NO-B) to support health operations at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Dar es Salaam.

This is a Special Short-Term Graded contract (up to 9 months) and an excellent opportunity for medical professionals interested in public health, migration, and international development.

Job Purpose​

The role focuses on managing migration health services, ensuring compliance with international medical standards, and supporting health assessments for migrants and refugees.

Key Responsibilities​

Health Assessment & Clinical Services​

  • Conduct medical examinations, imaging, and laboratory testing
  • Manage vaccinations, TB treatment, and referrals
  • Support HIV counselling and STI treatment programs
  • Oversee pre-departure medical procedures and documentation

Quality Assurance & Data Management​

  • Ensure accurate recording of patient data in systems like MiMOSA
  • Maintain quality standards and implement SOPs
  • Conduct audits and monitor performance indicators
  • Analyze health data and provide reports

Operations & Coordination​

  • Ensure efficient daily operations of MHAC
  • Coordinate with the Chief Migration Health Officer (CMHO)
  • Oversee procurement of medical supplies and equipment
  • Support budgeting and financial monitoring

Compliance & Governance​

  • Ensure adherence to international health protocols
  • Manage incident reporting and risk mitigation
  • Maintain patient safety and infection control standards

Qualifications​

Education​

  • University Degree in Medicine from an accredited institution
  • Valid license to practice in Tanzania (mandatory)

Experience​

  • At least 4 years of clinical experience
  • Recent experience in a hospital or multidisciplinary setting
  • Knowledge of clinical medicine and patient care
  • Experience in public health or healthcare management is an advantage

Skills​

  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Knowledge of patient safety and infection prevention
  • Data analysis and reporting skills

Languages​

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required
