Medical Assistant Job at IOM Tanzania​

International Organization for Migration (IOM) is hiring a Medical Assistant (G-5) to support operations at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Dar es Salaam.

This is a Special Short-Term contract (up to 9 months) and is suitable for candidates with experience in data entry, customer service, or call centre operations, especially in a medical or NGO environment.

Job Purpose​

The Medical Assistant supports migration health assessment services by handling call centre operations, data entry, and client interaction to ensure efficient processing of migrants.

Key Responsibilities​

Call Centre Support​

  • Provide information to migrants regarding health assessments
  • Schedule and confirm medical appointments
  • Maintain daily statistics and update records
  • Support customer satisfaction processes

Reception & Data Processing​

  • Register applicants and verify identity
  • Enter biodata into IOM systems
  • Capture photos and prepare medical documents
  • Print forms and manage documentation

Documentation & File Management​

  • Receive and process medical files, x-rays, and reports
  • Package and transmit documents to partners
  • Maintain proper filing of records and correspondence
  • Handle courier tracking and document delivery

Administrative Support​

  • Process payment confirmations and bank slips
  • Assist finance and administrative teams
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications​

Education​

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years of experience, OR
  • Secondary School Certificate with 5 years of experience
  • Certificate in IT/Data Entry is an added advantage

Experience​

  • Experience in data entry or call centre operations
  • Typing speed of at least 60 words per minute
  • Knowledge of customer service and data management
  • Experience in medical or NGO environments is an advantage

Technical Skills​

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Windows systems
  • Knowledge of databases and data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL is an advantage)
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems is an added advantage

Languages​

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili is required
