Absa Tanzania, a leading local bank with regional and international expertise, invites applications for the role of Manager – Planning & Performance Management. The position is critical in providing actionable insights to senior management, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and leading the business analytics team to optimize financial and operational performance.


Job Summary

  • Provide senior management with insightful analysis of business drivers
  • Improve quality of management information and reporting
  • Act as a liaison between Finance and other departments/clusters on budget and performance matters
  • Identify cost drivers and recommend cost management initiatives
  • Lead the Business Analytics / Planning & Performance Management team
  • Provide financial and strategic solutions to support bank growth

Main Accountabilities

Planning (40%)

  • Coordinate medium-term plans and budgets
  • Challenge and validate functional budgets
  • Build relationships with budget holders and cross-functional teams
  • Prepare board and management packs for performance assessment
  • Ensure adherence to capital budgets
Performance Management (50%)

  • Produce monthly management accounts and performance analysis
  • Support and challenge forecasts, plans, and results
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis for senior management
  • Prepare segmented information on income, costs, and balance sheet
  • Monitor capital plans and compliance with BOT/WRA requirements
  • Recommend system enhancements to strengthen financial management
Staff Management (10%)

  • Coach team members on Planning & Performance Management
  • Review performance and support employee development

Risk and Control

  • Apply risk frameworks and embed a positive risk culture
  • Understand end-to-end processes and associated risks
  • Report risk events and proactively improve control environment
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and unions where applicable

Education & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Banking, Actuarial Science, or Computer Science
  • CPA(T) / ACCA qualified (mandatory)
Experience & Skills

  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and planning skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint for financial presentations
  • Minimum 5 years’ overall experience, including 3 years in leadership roles
  • Excellent understanding of accounting, management accounting, and financial services
  • Knowledge of bank products, services, and balance sheet structure
  • Ability to influence senior management and communicate complex analysis to non-financial staff
  • Flexibility to function as Financial Controller is an advantage
