The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is inviting applications for the position of Finance and Administration Officer based in Dar es Salaam. This is a local, full-time position under the ESARO Tanzania unit, with a fixed-term contract of up to 24 months and an expected start date of 01 May 2026.
IUCN operates across Eastern and Southern Africa, focusing on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. In Tanzania, it is implementing the “PAMOJA TUHIFADHI BAHARI YETU (Bahari Yetu)” project (2024–2028), aimed at improving marine and coastal ecosystem conservation, funded by the European Union.
The Finance and Administration Officer will support financial and administrative operations within the programme. The role ensures compliance with IUCN and donor policies, supports project implementation, and contributes to efficient financial management and internal control systems. The position reports to the Finance and Administration Manager and involves frequent travel to project sites within mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day accounting functions such as accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliations
- Preparing vouchers and maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting in financial reporting, budgeting, and audits
- Monitoring cash flow, petty cash, and bank transactions
- Supporting procurement processes and maintaining inventory records
- Overseeing administrative services, including asset and equipment management
- Supporting HR administration, payroll processing, and compliance with labour laws
- Ensuring adherence to internal policies, donor requirements, and regulatory standards
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or a related field
- Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA (Level II), or CIMA is preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, preferably within NGOs or international organizations
- Experience in project administration, financial reporting, procurement, and compliance
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics NAV is an advantage)
- Knowledge of Tanzanian tax regulations and NGO frameworks
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili
