Absa Tanzania, a leading local bank with regional and international expertise, invites applications for the role of Business Banking Relationship Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to manage and grow a portfolio of enterprise clients while contributing to the bank’s long-term strategic goals.


Job Summary

  • Manage and sustain a portfolio of Business Banking – Enterprise customers
  • Build long-term relationships founded on efficient and reliable support
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure quality operational service within your portfolio
  • Maximize sustainable risk-adjusted portfolio contribution
  • Support business development with new and existing customers

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Service (70%)

  • Conduct annual and interim reviews of customer borrowing facilities
  • Actively grow your portfolio and cross-sell banking products
  • Consult customers on financial and credit issues
  • Resolve complaints and ensure high-quality service delivery
  • Plan and coordinate marketing approaches for new business
Business Management (25%)

  • Research and identify potential new business opportunities
  • Assess priority customers and gather credit application data
  • Monitor portfolio quality and manage early warning indicators
  • Adhere to procedures, guidelines, and bank policies
Staff Management (5%)

  • Coordinate day-to-day customer management within the branch
  • Support crisis management and task allocation as needed

Risk & Control

  • Review risk and compliance profiles of your business unit
  • Ensure adherence to Absa policies and procedures
  • Stay up to date on regulatory changes and industry developments

Skills & Competencies

Personal Attributes:

  • Meeting customers’ needs, managing relationships, personal organization, adaptability, self-development, active listening, analytical thinking, decisiveness, entrepreneurial mindset
Technical Skills:

  • Relationship management, risk assessment, corporate and leadership skills, communication, product knowledge
Product Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of Business Banking products and related Personal Sector products
  • Ability to recognize changing customer needs and recommend appropriate solutions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Business degree preferred
  • Training in risk assessment, negotiation, presentation, and communication
  • Minimum 2 years tenure required in relationship management with enterprise clients
  • Knowledge of banking policies, strategies, and products
  • Ability to engage with financial controllers and owner-managers
