Available Position: Underground Gold Mine Electrician
Position Purpose
The Underground Electrician is responsible for carrying out preventative, scheduled, and breakdown maintenance of all electrical systems within the mine. The role ensures equipment reliability, safety, and efficient mining operations.Key Responsibilities
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure a safe working environment through inspections and hazard control
- Follow all company policies and safety procedures
- Take responsibility for personal safety and that of others
- Perform pre-start checks and Safe Work Instructions (SWICs)
Maintenance and Operations
- Conduct inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment
- Ensure all tools and equipment are safe and operational
- Minimize equipment downtime and maximize productivity
- Perform scheduled servicing and electrical repairs
- Complete service sheets and maintenance documentation
- Report faults and issues to supervisors immediately
Technical Duties
- Install and maintain mine communication systems (Leaky Feeder)
- Maintain ventilation systems (primary and secondary)
- Maintain I-Kon firing lines
- Maintain mine dewatering systems including Flygt and Stalker pumps
- Read and interpret service manuals and spare parts documentation
Coordination and Support
- Liaise with underground supervisors on equipment status
- Assist in identifying required spare parts
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in work areas
Minimum Requirements
- Experience in underground hard rock mechanised mining is an added advantage
- Exposure to Sandvik drill equipment such as Jumbo, Solo, and Q-Box
- Strong background in underground mining operations
- Ability to operate hand tools and follow maintenance procedures
- Positive attitude and willingness to work in demanding environments
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Qualifications
- Recognized trade qualification as an Electrician
- Completed secondary school education
- Valid Tanzanian Driver’s Licence (manual driving required)
- Basic First Aid knowledge
- Good numeracy and communication skills in English
