Objective of the Role
To assist the Superintendent – Metallurgy Security in managing security responsibilities within the GGM process plant and gold room. The role ensures that personnel, gold-bearing materials, and other assets are safely protected while maintaining strict operational and security standards.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee product accounting, metal reconciliation, and gold production reporting
- Ensure accurate sampling, weighing, and reconciliation of all mineral products
- Monitor and control product movements within the processing plant, maintaining chain-of-custody and loss-prevention measures
- Collaborate with processing, laboratory, and security teams to comply with operational and bullion shipment standards, including VPSHR
- Support crime prevention and risk mitigation via intelligence networks, investigations, incident reporting, and coordination with other security sections
- Ensure secure handling of gold-bearing materials during critical operations such as bullion shipments and mill relining
- Maintain accurate system updates, including Provenance Gold Bar data (Axedras) and high-value sample records in MPFSA
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives, budget management, and strengthening product control systems within the process plant
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Certification
- Degree or Diploma in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, Chemistry, or related technical discipline
- Basic Security Training Certificate
- Valid driving license (advantageous)
- NIDA card and TIN Certificate
Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- 3–5 years’ experience in Security Metallurgy
- Experience in mining or large industrial processing environments is an advantage
- Hands-on experience with security systems (CCTV, electric fence, access control, intrusion detection)
- General understanding of reporting systems: Au RISK, MPFSA, Isometrix, Axedras
- Experience with metal accounting, sampling systems, and reconciliation processes
