International Organization for Migration (IOM) is hiring a Nurse (G-5) to support healthcare services at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Dar es Salaam.

Job Purpose​

The Nurse will support migration health assessment programs by delivering clinical services, assisting migrants, and ensuring compliance with international health standards.

Key Responsibilities​

Clinical & Nursing Duties​

  • Conduct medical examinations (vital signs, weight, height, vision checks)
  • Collect samples (blood, urine, sputum) for laboratory testing
  • Support imaging, vaccinations, and TB management
  • Assist in treatment, referrals, and pre-departure medical procedures

Patient Care & Support​

  • Provide clear information to migrants about health assessments
  • Offer counselling on TB, HIV, and disease prevention
  • Ensure proper identification and patient tracking throughout processes

Health Program Implementation​

  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and clinical checklists
  • Maintain infection prevention and control standards
  • Support mobile health missions and outreach activities

Inventory & Administration​

  • Manage pharmacy stock, medical kits, and emergency supplies
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate patient records
  • Assist with documentation, certification, and data reporting

Coordination & Collaboration​

  • Work with internal teams, embassies, NGOs, and health providers
  • Support medical escort duties when required
  • Share statistical reports with supervisors

Qualifications​

Education​

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Valid nursing license in Tanzania

Experience​

  • Bachelor’s: Minimum 3 years clinical experience
  • Diploma: Minimum 5 years clinical experience
  • Experience in TB, immunization, or public health is an advantage

Technical Skills​

  • Strong clinical and phlebotomy skills
  • Knowledge of infection control and patient safety
  • Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Access)

Languages​

  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili required
