The Machine Specialist is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing plant equipment to ensure maximum efficiency, product quality, and minimal downtime. The role also involves supporting shift teams with technical expertise, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.Key Responsibilities
Operational Support- Provide expert support to shift teams during operations
- Guide teams on machine operation, fault finding, and troubleshooting
- Coach and mentor operators on machine handling
- Monitor machine performance and ensure optimal running speeds
- Participate in plant optimization and improvement trials
- Participate in maintenance planning and execution
- Complete assigned tasks within maintenance schedules
- Support team members during maintenance activities
- Update SAP records and maintenance documentation
- Contribute to post-maintenance reviews and improvements
- Perform inspection, cleaning, and lubrication of machines
- Identify and resolve technical issues during routine checks
- Communicate maintenance needs to planners for scheduling
- Conduct condition monitoring activities
- Carry out or support repairs on plant equipment
- Diagnose issues and determine corrective actions
- Engage external specialists (OEMs) when required
- Ensure all repairs are properly documented
- Apply structured problem-solving techniques
- Support team members in resolving technical issues
- Escalate complex issues when necessary
- Follow safety standards and identify risks
- Maintain clean and organized workspaces using 4S principles
- Comply with company policies and procedures
- Train and coach operators on maintenance practices
- Develop technical work instructions and standards
- Support implementation of new product development (NPD) processes
Qualifications and Experience
Education:- Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation is an added advantage)
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience
- Experience in FMCG or bottling industry is an advantage
Required Skills and Competencies
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of packaging machines and systems
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office and SAP)
