About the Role​

Under the supervision of the Head of Gender and Human Rights Unit, the intern will support programmes focused on gender-based violence (GBV), harmful practices, and gender equality.

The role involves contributing to programme implementation, research, stakeholder engagement, and advocacy activities.

Key Responsibilities​

Programme Support​

  • Analyze partner reports and document lessons learned
  • Conduct research on emerging gender and GBV issues
  • Support development of policy briefs and advocacy materials
  • Assist in writing concept notes and funding proposals
  • Monitor GBV and harmful practices data with M&E teams
  • Prepare briefing notes and talking points

Secretariat Support​

  • Support technical working groups and committees
  • Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and seminars
  • Prepare agendas, invitations, and communication materials

Administrative and Event Support​

  • Support organization of events such as:
    • International Women’s Day
    • FGM Awareness Day
    • 16 Days of Activism Against GBV
  • Provide logistical and coordination support
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Expected Outputs​

  • Documentation of best practices and human-interest stories
  • Development of tools to track GBV and harmful practices trends
  • Active participation in programme activities and reporting

Qualifications and Requirements​

Educational Requirements​

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree programme (with at least one year completed)
  • Enrolled in a postgraduate programme
  • Recent graduate (within one year)
  • Enrolled in a professional trainee programme

Academic Background​

  • Degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Development Studies, or related field

Experience and Skills​

  • Experience or volunteer work in development or gender programmes
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Additional Requirements​
