The Forklift Operator is responsible for loading, unloading, and stacking materials safely and efficiently. The role ensures proper inventory management, supports production processes, and maintains safety and quality standards in the warehouse.Key Responsibilities
Fleet and Equipment Management- Perform pre-trip inspections using forklift checklists
- Ensure forklift is clean, well-maintained, and fully operational
- Monitor fuel and fluid levels
- Follow safety standards and use required protective equipment
- Maintain housekeeping standards (5S)
- Comply with SOPs, GOPs, and labour regulations
- Apply stock rotation principles (FEFO – First Expired, First Out)
- Conduct daily stock counts using digital devices
- Identify and resolve stock discrepancies
- Ensure accurate stock movements and documentation
- Load and unload materials accurately and efficiently
- Handle returns and record stock movements
- Maintain clear communication with warehouse and inventory teams
- Ensure correct quantities of pallets are loaded
- Supply raw materials and empties to production lines
- Remove and store finished products
- Maintain production flow and efficiency
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent
- License: Valid forklift driver license
- Experience operating a double handler forklift is an advantage
Key Skills and Competencies
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong numerical and inventory handling skills
- Computer literacy (handheld stock devices is an advantage)
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments
- Strong self-management and teamwork skills
