Watumishi Housing Investments (WHI) is inviting applications from qualified candidates to fill one (1) position for the post of Accountant II. The application period runs from 22 March 2026 to 04 April 2026.

The successful candidate will manage financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and support the organization’s accounting and reporting functions. The duties and responsibilities include:

  • Receiving and depositing cash and cheques
  • Issuing cheques, petty cash, and other payments, and issuing receipts for payments made
  • Maintaining bank deposit slips, receipt books, and cheque books for all WHC bank accounts
  • Posting receipts transactions into the accounting system
  • Preparing and recording all payment vouchers and maintaining payment voucher files
  • Preparing and recording all credit notes and maintaining credit notes files
  • Recording all receipts, journal vouchers, debit notes, and petty cash summaries, and maintaining respective files
  • Posting authorized transactions in the system and ensuring system records accurately reflect the company’s financial position daily
  • Maintaining and reconciling all accounts receivable, including amounts due from staff, to ensure prompt collection
  • Maintaining and reconciling all accounts payable, including statutory dues, to ensure correct and timely payment for goods and services
  • Maintaining the Fixed Assets Register of the company
  • Compiling monthly revenue-related reports, including reconciliations of sales and VAT returns
  • Generating various debtor-related reports and following up on overdue debts
  • Effecting periodic financial reports for submission to appropriate authorities
  • Undertaking any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Applicants must meet the required qualifications to be considered for the position. Specifically, candidates should possess:

  • Bachelor degree or Advanced Diploma in Accounting, Finance and Investment, Commerce/Business Administration majoring in Accountancy or Finance, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution
  • CPA (T), ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualifications recognized by NBAA
  • Knowledge and competence in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) applications and familiarity with accounting software
  • Good knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Public Sector reporting principles is an added advantage
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in a reputable institution is an added advantage
The position offers a salary according to the WHC Salary Scale.
